City Council

The City Council is the only body in the municipality that is directly elected by the voters. Lerum City Council has 51 ordinary members and 27 deputies. The distribution of seats among the ordinary members are as follows:
  • Moderaterna 17,
  • Socialdemokraterna 13,
  • Folkpartiet 6,
  • Centerpartiet 4,
  • Miljöpartiet 4,
  • Vänsterpartiet 3,
  • Kristdemokraterna 2,
  • Sverigedemokraterna 2.
 

What does the Counsil do?

The Council is the municipality’s supreme decision making body and decides on all matters of greater importance to the municipality, though never on individual personal matters. The Council decides on matters such as the municipal budget and tax, final accounts and the granting of discharge from liability for the various committees.
 
They also decide on more important tariffs (such as the child care tariff), the organisation of the committees and the distribution of duties among them. Other duties of the Council is to select the members and deputies of the City Executive Board, other committees and to select auditors.
 

Welcome to Council meetings!

Council meetings are always public. When the final accounts are discussed, the public also has the opportunity to put questions to the Councils members about the final accounts. Each meeting is advertised (in Swedish only) in the local paper Lerums Tidning.
