Acclimatisation

 

On the first school day you meet your teacher together with an interpreter. We go through the timetable, study planning and what background knowledge you may have. You start in an acclimatisation group. This is a small group that has preparatory teaching for teaching at the various levels. After acclimatisation you should have a knowledge of:

 
• Talking about yourself, your name, origin, language, residence, personal particulars etc.
• The alphabet (vowels, consonants, + practising sounds), pronunciation
• Short/ Long vowels
• Common sentences and words
• Dictionary practice
• Alphabetic order
• Days of the week, months, seasons
• Personal pronouns
• Numerals, ordinals
• Telling the time, time expressions
• Question words
• Simple texts + questions
• Word order: Subject – verb – object – place – time
